Hand Lance Systems
Hand lance system PC-HLS
Many of the sampling probes that are used today are without the metallic slag protection. It is known that the metal in the slag protection melts and mixes with the sample. It is impossible to know if and how much of the steel sample that comes from the slag protection when the sample is analysed.
To prevent the slag from penetrating the sampler, an argon gas flow through the probe is used instead of the metal protection. The gas flow must be on until the sampling probe is totally immersed into the melt.
Easy to use
Our hand lance system is designed to take care of the sampling sequence with highest precision. It is easy to use for the operators and helps the operator to get a good sample of the metal. The operator pushes a start button and then immerses the lance and the hand lance system then takes care of the sequence.
Function description
The operator loads the lance with a new sampling probe and push the start button.
An Argon gas flow through the sampler starts and a green light tells the operator that he can immerse the sampling lance.
As soon as the sampling lance is immersed and our steel sensor detects the slag/metal interface the gas flow stops. At the same time vacuum is created in the lance to help the filling of the sample. The operator knows that the sampling sequence has started because a yellow light and an acoustic pulsating signal starts.
The operator just hold the lance in the melt until the preset sampling time has run out and a red light and a steady acoustic signal starts. The sampling sequence is finished and the lance can be withdrawn from the melt.
Some of the advantages
- Easy to use, no manual handling of the Argon gas flow.
- Correct immersion depth is always obtained because of our steel sensor in the lance. It ensures that the gas flow is on until the sampling probe tip is immersed in the metal, regardless of the slag thickness.
- Eliminates the risk of taking samples in the slag.
- Reproduced sampling technique, Argon flushing, vacuum, lamps, signals and immersion time is automated and repeated with high accuracy
